Preschool Year!
I know that I went to chandler High School’s preschool and Sue was a worker there. It was so much fun I had a little friend Erin who would speak for me and I was her guard. One of the prettiest things we did was made melted crayons butterflies. They were so beautiful. We had a play ground and had recess. I remember one time falling off the monkey bars and hitting my head I had to go to the nurse’s office I was very scared because I was by myself. I remember it was quite a large class I would guess about 25-30 of us. One of my most favorite games was red rover, red rover.
I was especially excited when Sue would be my teacher. I would let everyone know she was my sister.
Kindergarten
I went to 3 different schools that year. I started at Hartford elementary school in chandler and I would walk home with Mark he was in 4th grade. I remember getting a ticket for walking across the park across the street from Sue’s home. I cried all the way home because I was afraid Grandma would be mad at me, I was wrong she held me and told me she loved me and said not to cross the park again, I felt much better.
Over thanksgiving holiday our family moved to Orem, Utah waiting for our home to be built in American Fork, Ut. We lived in a downstairs apartment for about 4 months I think. It was very small; above us was a century 21. We had to be quiet during the day.
First grade
I do not remember much about that year. I had Mrs. Allen she was pretty strict but I think I was pretty good. When I was in seventh grade I had her husband for science he was a much better teacher.
Third Grade
I had Mrs. Steel she was my very favorite teacher of all. She made learning fun and I wrote a lot of stories. I remember learning about the pioneers coming to Utah and we were all to draw pictures of what our house may have looked like if we had lived then. I remember I had curtains and she said, “This pioneer was busy.”
Another fun thing we learned was how to weave like an Indian and all our matt’s looked different. I think mine was green and white. After we got done we could still weave at recess and make more matt’s my friends and I made a little house for some yarn doll’s we made around our neck. It is still a fond memory that I have.
Sunday’s
Today I was listening to you play primary. I remember playing church when I was young also. I would have the vacuum be the microphone and I would get out all my toys to be the congregation. We would sing some songs, do activities and I would bear my testimony or talk to them. I would even sometimes write a talk. If I was lucky my Mom would come and play and be a special visitor to everyone assembled.
I remember one Sunday Dad was the ward clerk and they use to sit on the stand in the opposite corner as the priest. Well I was able to sit by him and see the whole congregation I felt so proud. It’s a different experience being able to see people’s expressions.
Baptism
My Dad baptized me on June 30, 1979 in American Fork, Utah. It was sunny and warm with blue skies. Mom made me a new dress I felt very pretty. All of the children in the stake got baptized I remember that I was 13th I felt like it would never happen. I think sue was the one to braid my hair I was afraid I would have to be baptized again because not everything would go under. But I only had to go under the water once. Afterwards Grandpa Wright had brought over his ice cream maker it had a handle and we all took turns cranking it and wanting it to get done. It was such a special day on Sunday at church I received the gift of the Holy Ghost. I felt warm and good inside I knew Heavenly Father was happy for the choice I had made.
Mother’s feelings 2011
It amazes me how over almost 10 years my feelings of what motherhood was, is and maybe to come have become more tender and special.
Being pregnant for the first time after six years of being married, I was to say, the least joyous about it. Our dream of parenthood was truly going to be a reality.
When we went to have each of you and I heard your first cry I remember the complete joy I felt in my heart. Nothing could have prepared me for the first time I held you in my arms and could smell and feel the scent of heaven with each breath I took. I would wonder if Heavenly Father gave you some last words of comfort and wisdom to help you.
Looking at the creation of your beautiful bodies and the newness I could see within your eyes as I touched your skin, the look you gave as you tasted milk for the first time.
There were times I would hold you while you were asleep and I would catch a glimpse of a smile, I would wonder if someone from heaven came to tell you a secret and it made you happy. At other times I would watch you in wonder as you would see things for the first time and how you would become totally enraptured by it.
Now sometimes I have to keep some smiles hiddened as I watch you progress throughout your life. But most of the time I’m completely and totally in love and grateful for each of you. You have made me and everyone better by your kindness to each other. The respect you give other people they appreciate and tell us about your examples.
I know Heavenly father gave us the greatest jewels in our family when you came to earth. Each day thank and praise his name for each of you.
With all the love of my heart;
MOM
